Gulf foreign ministers meet to set GCC agenda (Lead)
December 6th, 2010 - 5:24 am ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, Dec 6 (IANS/WAM) The foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have met to hammer out the agenda of the 31st summit of the grouping here Monday.
The meeting Sunday was chaired by UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“We are meeting here today to complete the agenda of the 117th session of the ministerial council which will be submitted to the leaders of the GCC,” Sheikh Abdullah said.
He said the agenda includes a host of topics that draw attention of our leaders to political, economic, cultural, and other issues.
“The deliberations in its political dimension express our common desire to have one lucid, audible voice at international forums that delivers the message of stability, peace and development which both our countries and this gathering carry, the UAE minister added.
Founded in 1981, the GCC groups Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The six states together hold around 45 percent of the global oil reserves and contribute 16 million barrels of crude oil daily.
