Gujarat developmental initiatives win awards
December 11th, 2008 - 12:48 am ICT by IANSGandhinagar, Dec 10 (IANS) Gujarat’s efforts to boost windpower generation and other developmental intitiatives have been acclaimed at the national level and honoured with awards, government spokesperson Jaynarayan Vyas said here Wednesday. The World Institute of Sustainable Energy (WISE) honoured the Gujarat Energy Development Agnecy (GEDA) for being the “best wind power developer” at a function in Chennai last month, he said.
Referring to communication initiatives in rural development, Vyas said the state government had launched the ‘e-Gram Vishwa Gram project’, which has helped in offering broadband connectivity to 13,696 village councils. The Computer Society of India has conferred the best e-governed project award to the e-Gram Vishwa Gram.
The Vadodara municipal corporation has won the Best Urban Transport Services Award of the urban development ministry, he said.
