Graco Children’s Products Inc. recalls 2 million strollers
October 20th, 2010 - 9:42 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington DC, Oct 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Graco Children’s Products Inc. is voluntarily recalling some 2 million of their baby strollers after it emerged that 4 toddlers have been killed in a freak accident.
The recall, which was, announced on Wednesday affect the company’s Quattro Tour and MetroLite strollers.
All the products were sold before 2008 and they were mostly sold at AAFES, Kmart, Babies R Us, Burlington Coat Factory, Meijers, Fred Meyer, Navy Exchange, Sears, Target and Wal-Mart.
Four toddlers were strangulated when they became trapped in the leg opening under the tray of the strollers. Five other infants have received cuts and bruises as a result of the entrapment.
The strollers are particularly dangerous to children under the age of one year. If they are not properly strapped, they can slip in between the tray and the seat bottom of the stroller. When this happens, then their head and necks become trapped by the tray of the stroller and that can strangle them to death.
Parents with the kit are advised to contact the purchase point for a free repair kit. It is advised however that parents should stop using the affected stroller if the repair is not done on it.
