Government hikes its advertisement rates by 24 percentSeptember 25th, 2008 - 10:23 pm ICT by IANS
New Delhi, Sep 25 (IANS) The government Thursday revised upwards the existing rates for the DAVP advertisements by 24 percent.“The revised rates would be applicable for the advertisements released on or after Sep 1,” an official statement from the information and broadcasting ministry said here Thursday.
All categories of newspapers and periodicals empanelled with the directorate of advertising and visual publicity (DAVP) have been covered under the revised rates.
The upward rate revision was due to increased rates of newsprint and other costs, and the decision was taken by the ministry on demand from Indian Newspapers Society (INS).
“This decision would benefit more than 4,000 newspapers and periodicals and the small and medium newspapers, among others, would however be benefiting most as the percentage of advertisements to be released to these categories of newspapers was increased earlier,” the release added.
The percentage of advertisements for small newspapers went up from 10 to 15 percent and for medium newspapers from 30 to 35 percent in the changed policy adopted by the ministry Oct 2, 2007.
