Government clears four loaning of Ranchi-Jamshedpur highway
August 20th, 2010 - 2:53 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 20 (IANS) The government Friday approved four laning of a section of the national highway connecting Ranchi and Jamshedpur in Jharkhand at an estimated cost of Rs.1,479 crore.
This will help reduce the time and cost of travel between the state capital and the industrial town.
“The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure approved the implementation of the project of four laning of Ranchi-Rargaon-Jamshedpur section of NH-33 from 113.73 km to 277.5 km,” said an official statement.
The project will be implemented on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis under the National Highways Development Programme.
The concession period is 15 years, including the time taken for construction of about 30 months.
The government will pay Rs.55.84 crore towards land acquisition and other pre-construction activities for the project.
“The implementation of the project will reduce the time and cost of travel for the traffic plying between the capital city of Ranchi and the industrial township of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand. It will also increase employment opportunities for local labourers in the project activities,” the statement added.
