Google TV Planned In Collaboration With Electronic Giants

google tvSan Francisco, Mar 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The TV viewers who want something more than conventional TV services that force them spend a lot of time flipping through the various channels, finally have an alternate choice. Google, the web search behemoth is coming up with its webTV application as the industry sources have reported. The company has reportedly signed a pact with software and hardware giants like Logitech, Sony and Intel. It is not only going to give Google a chance to take on Apple and produce something to take on the Apple TV but the concerned companies also stand to gain. Google’s open source Android OS is now used in a number of popular Smart phones made by HTC and Motorola.

Google TV service is likely to be an interface that will be used either in TV hardware or in set top boxes. Logitech will manufacture the remote control. The hardware will be powered by Intel’s atom chips that are widely used in smaller laptops and netbooks. The industry experts that it has the potential to become a hit with the viewers and with proper marketing Google will achieve success. Sony is planning to regain lost grounds with the TVs that will have this technology in built. It has been getting tough competition from Korean rivals of late.

The Google web TV is not exactly revolutionary as some tech experts feel. The latest LCD TVs also have the means to access the web already. What the Google TV will offer is a well designed interface and add on applications. Google or the other companies have not confirmed the news so far.
