November 11th, 2010 - 3:48 pm ICT by IANSMelbourne, Nov 11 (IANS) A solid 18-carat white gold fountain pen encrusted with 850 diamonds was Thursday put on display in Australia’s Brisbane city.
The fountain pen costs $1.7 million and has been put up at the Brisbane Arcade’s The Pen Shoppe, AAP reported.
The elegant Caran d’Ache 1010 fountain pen was designed as a tribute to Swiss watchmaking.
The Pen Shoppe’s owner Barbara Nichol said a number of people have shown interest in buying the gold pen.
“Fountain pens have made a significant comeback recently. With computers, handwriting has been considered a dying art.
“However, we’ve found more and more people wanting to perfect their writing style and they want to use a nib and ink,” Nichols was quoted as saying.
