Godrej forays into television market in Karnataka
May 26th, 2011 - 10:48 pm ICT by IANSBangalore, May 26 (IANS) The Godrej group, a leading player in home appliances, entered the burgeoning television market in Karnataka by unveiling a range of digital products here Thursday.
“Our range of television sets with the latest LEDs (light emitting diode), LCDs (liquid crystal display) and CRT (cathode ray tube) technology are aimed at changing the way Indians enjoy viewing experience, with a difference,” Godrej Appliances vice-president Kamal Nandi told reporters here at a product preview.
In view of the growing popularity of gaming in India, especially with the younger generation, the company offers an interactive gaming console along with its ‘Game LCD TV’ that has 25 pre-loaded games.
“The joystick’s unique gyroscopic motion sensor allows viewers to experience gaming technology by swinging a racket, throwing darts and bowling down an alley inside a living room. Extra games can be loaded through an USB (universal serial bus),” Nandi said.
Similarly, the 32-inch Eon LED TV set enriches viewing sport, science fiction blockbusters and action packed Bollywood or Hollywood films like never before as its backlight enhances the movement of every pixel to beam quality pictures with clarity.
As the total television market in Karnataka is estimated to be about 800,000 units per annum, Godrej plans to achieve five percent market share in the next 12 months.
The LCD/LED range is priced between Rs.15,500-62,000 and the CRT range between Rs.5,100-8,600 across Karnataka.
