New York, May 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Year 2010 looks to be a year of vehicle recalls. This time its General Motors (GM) to announce a recall on its most famous luxury SUV line, the Hummer.

GM announced that it would be recalling about 160,000 H3 Hummers over a safety issue in which the car’s hood could loosen and possibly with time could come off as well. This could cause injuries or damage. It’s these fears that forced GM to do a recall of its most famous vehicle line. GM has officially filed the recall with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) for all H3 Hummers manufactured in the year 2006 to 2010.

The nature of problem does not call for recall to factories, but the problem can be fixed at the dealers by applying an adhesive, so that the hood remains intact and doesn’t loosen or fall off.

In March GM was forced to recall over 1.3 million Chevrolet and Pontiac compact cars over a steering motor issue. This recall was only for the cars that have been sold in the US, Canada and the Mexico. Apparently the recall was in place to fix the steering motors, which are not reliable and can fail. The models, which were affected, were the 2005 to 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt’s, 2007 to 2010 Pontiac G5s, 2005 and the 2006 Pontiac Pursuits sold in Canada. The Pontiac G4s, which were sold in Mexico in 2005 and 2006, also formed a part of the recall.
