car2 New York, March 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The power steering problem in the General Motors cars has led the authority to recall 1.3 Million small cars from all over North America. The company is planning to recall its Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5, Pontiac 4 and Pontiac Pursuit models. The news comes as the latest major car recall after Toyota recalled millions of cars due to Sticking Gas Pedal from October last year.

However, the company will not be recalling all the cars; it has on the other hand specified some particulars. Its Chevrolet Cobalt models which were built during 2005 to 2010 will be recalled along with Pontiac G5 cars which were sold in between 2007 to 2010. From Canada Pontiac Pursuit cars which were sold between the years 2005 to 2006 will be recalled while Pontiac G4 models sold in between 2005-2006 will be affected. Bob Lutz, the General Motors vice-chairman has revealed to the media that the company has itself carried out an investigation last year regarding the car’s reported steering problem which has finished on Monday. Jamie Hresko, the vice president of General Motors quality control has said that the concerned problem takes time to develop and therefore the cars affected are the company’s old cars which have crossed the warranty period. Still the company feels that recalling the cars is the “right thing to do”.

While many are questioning the General Motors quality control, the General Motors vice-chairman Bob Lutz has however blamed one of its suppliers which is partially owned by Toyota for the fault. He also said that though the concerned cars need more steering efforts at a low speed, it could be controlled.
