New Delhi, April 10 (IANS) Germany is interested in investing in the Indian Railway’s proposed dedicated freight network and is ready to share technological expertise too, a German official has said. German Ministry of Transport and Urban Affairs secretary Engelbert Lutke Daldrup said after a meeting with Indian officials Wednesday: “We discussed cooperation in railway infrastructure. We also expressed a desire to invest in the dedicated freight corridors being developed in India.

“We are looking forward to offering our technological support and also seeking Indian investment in developing our railway infrastructure in eastern Germany,” he added.

The setting up of joint working groups to study energy efficiency in the construction and automotive sectors was also discussed, Daldrup said.

However, the main purpose of Daldrup’s visit to India is to promote Germany as an attractive investment destination.

“Germany is a gateway to other European markets and the investment process in Germany is fast and easy.

“The Indian economy is booming and Germany’s eastern states are appearing increasingly attractive to Indian companies,” he said.
