German firm to support Maharashtra photovoltaic project
June 17th, 2011 - 11:19 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, June 17 (IANS) TÜV SÜD, a German multinational, will provide quality assurance services during the realisation of Maharashtra government’s a major photovoltaic (PV) power project in Dhule district, an official said here Friday.
The company, which provides testing, auditing, inspection and certification, training and technical consultancy services, will deliver end-to-end support throughout the realisation of the plant, from drawing board to commissioning.
The power project will have a total capacity of 125 MW.
Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan announced this project last month, stating that Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MahaGenco) will erect the photovoltaic power station with a total capacity of 125 MW in Shivajinagar town of Dhule district.
“The PV plant in Shivajinagar will be one of the largest facilities worldwide. This applies not only to the quality control of the PV modules and quality assurance during the construction of the five PV blocks, but also to the connection of the blocks to each other and the grid, and to the alignment of the individual components,” said Gerhard Klein, business area manager for renewables at TÜV SÜD Industry Division.
Two different technologies will be used for the power station.
Seventy-five MW of the capacity will be produced in three blocks using crystalline silicone PV modules, and 50 MW in two further blocks with the help of thin-film terrestrial modules.
The entire plant comprises five blocks that will network with one another.
