German firm to build new Tamil Nadu assembly

Chennai, Feb 16 (IANS) The Tamil Nadu government has given the German firm GMP International the contract to build a new legislative assembly building, a government statement said here Saturday. The project will cost Rs.2 billion and work on the project will begin in six months. The complex will have a built-up area of about 75,000 square metres and will be at the Omandurar estate, in the heart of Chennai city.
GMP International was selected from seven companies through a global selection process, the release added.
