German couple offer to sell their baby on eBay!May 26th, 2008 - 5:18 pm ICT by admin
London, May 26 (ANI): Authorities in Germany have taken custody of a 7-month-old baby after his parents posted an ad on eBay offering to sell him for 80 pounds.
The couple, from the south German town of Memmingen, posted the advertisement to sell their son Merlin after he became too loud.
Bids were invited from a starting price of one euro but the sale was closed down after two hours with no offers received.
The auction note stated: Baby pick up in person only. Im offering my nearly new baby for sale since its become too loud. You can use it in a baby sling or in a pram!
Although the child’s parents insisted that the offer was a joke, they are now being investigated on suspicion of possible child trafficking by German police.
I would never give up Merlin. I just did it for fun and to see if someone would actually reply, The Sun quoted mother Tanja, as saying.
“My husband and my brothers thought it would be funny. Theyve taken my son to hospital and Ive got to take psychiatric tests, she added.
The baby was taken in by child care services and eBay said Tanja who had a previous record as a reputable seller had been barred. (ANI)
