Washington, Feb 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall for over half a million Generation 2 and ‘ChildESIGNS’ drop-side cribs. The recall was issued as 3 infants got suffocated and later died, after they were caught in between a broken side panel and the mattress placed in the crib.
All these cribs were sold through nationwide retailers like the Wal-Mart, Kmart and Buy Buy Baby. The company, prior to its closing down in 2005, has made these cribs. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has asked the parents to immediately stop using the cribs, as they are quite dangerous, and pose numerous risks.
Besides the 3 infant deaths, there have been at least 20 other reported cases in which there was an issue with the drop side, which might harm the infants. There were 8 reported problems with the mattress too.
Consumers who want to avail the recall, are being asked to contact the retailer who sold them the crib directly. The retailers who sold the crib include K-Mart, Wal-Mart and Buy Buy Baby. As part of the recall, the consumers will be entitled to either store credit, replacement, or a refund.
