New Delhi, April 1 (IANS) Have a complaint about piling garbage in your back lane? Don’t worry, just dial the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the complaint will be put on the civic agency’s Facebook page and the problem tackled within 24 hours, an official said Friday.
“From tomorrow (Saturday) people can dial 011-46485270 from their mobile phones and register their complaints in the form of voice messages. The message will be put on MCD’s Facebook page and a confirmation will be sent to the complainant,” MCD Commissioner K.S. Mehra told reporters here.
“This step was taken because many people in the capital don’t have access to internet and were not able to register their complaint on MCD’s Facebook page,” Mehra said.
The MCD developed the new voice application with technical support from the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
The corporation will try to redress all garbage disposal related complaints within 24 hours, the official said.
The MCD was the first urban local body in the country to use the social media for garbage lifting when it launched the Facebook page Jan 5.
“So far MCD has received 375 complaints on Facebook regarding disposal of garbage. All the complaints have been successfuly solved,” Additional Commissioner Anshu Prakash said.
