France examines investment possibilities in Agartala
April 22nd, 2011 - 4:23 pm ICT by ANIAgartala, Apr 22 (ANI): France is looking for investment possibilities in North-East following the removal of Restricted Area Permits (RAP) from the region.
Jean Louis Rysto, the French Consul General in Kolkata, who recently visited Tripura, examined the scope of investment in the northeastern region.
He identified sectors like rubber, tourism, mining and electricity where both India and France can work for mutual benefits.
The French Consul also showed keen interest in India’s Look East Policy and expressed his desire to increase the mutual cooperation of France with South East Asian countries through India.
Rysto said after the formulation of ‘Look-East’ policy and withdrawal of Restricted Area Permits (RAC) from different parts of North-East, France has been exploring possibilities of investments in agro sector, tourism, hydel power, medicinal plants, mining and railways.
“I would have not come here unless there was any possibility of investment,” he added.
A three-member delegation including second counselor to French ambassador, Sonia Barbry visited the industrial growth centre at Bodhjungnagar and consulted with the chairman of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC) Pabitra Kar and industrialists of the state. (ANI)
