FRANKFORT, KENTUCKY (BNO NEWS) – Four Kentucky companies will receive $787,000 in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding, Governor Steve Beshear announced on Thursday.

The funding will be used to replace old, inefficient lighting with advanced energy efficient fixtures in existing Kentucky commercial facilities. The projects selected will focus on accelerating energy efficiency and renewable energy industrial efforts.

Montaplast of North America Inc. in Frankfort, Florida Tile Inc. in Lawrenceburg, General Electric Company, Aviation Division in Madisonville and Sekisui Specialty Chemicals America LLC in Calvert City are the four companies that will receive the funds for lighting retrofit projects.

“I am pleased to announce the award of more than $787,000 in federal stimulus money to help four Kentucky companies reduce energy consumption and remain competitive in our current challenging economy. Energy efficiency and economic development are closely linked, and we will continue to look for ways to work together with the private sector in these important areas,” said Beshear.

The companies were selected through a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process, administered by the Cabinet for Economic Development. The cabinet will provide 50 percent of the funds while the companies will cover the remaining amount needed for its projects.
