Four Air India flights cancelled in northeast (Lead)

Agartala/Guwahati, April 28 (IANS) Four Air India (AI) flights scheduled to operate between the northeastern states and Kolkata were cancelled Thursday, the second day of the strike by the pilots of the state-owned airline, resulting in immense inconvenience to passengers.

According to AI officials in Agartala and Guwahati, at least four flights from Kolkata to Imphal, Agartala and Guwahati were cancelled till Thursday evening.

However, a flight each to Silchar in southern Assam, Guwahati, Imphal and Shillong operated from the Kolkata airport.

Around 600 pilots and members of the Indian Commercial Pilots Association (ICPA), earlier on the payroll of the erstwhile Indian Airlines, went on an indefinite strike from Tuesday midnight demanding pay parity with their counterparts in Air India, among other issues.
