March 10th, 2011 - 11:37 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 10 (IANS) Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath Thursday laid the foundation stone for the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) eighth Skills Training Park, which will provide industrial training to rural youth, in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh.
“A year ago, CII had committed to set up 10 centres for skill development across India. The Skills Training Park at Chhindwara is the eighth centre,” CII’s president Hari Bhartia said.
He added that CII had brought together the best companies from across India to provide industry relevant training to rural youth.
The industry body first piloted this model of skills training in 2008 and has trained more than 700 youths in various trades.
“This small initiative gathered momentum and now 13 companies have come on board to develop a facility that will train more than 1,600 youths from across India each year,” CII said in a statement.
The statement further said that the training facility will have state-of-the-art equipments, workshops and a hostel.
