Aug 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Mark Hurd, who gave his resignation as the chief operating officer of Hewlett-Packard over sexual harassment charges is reported to have reached a legal settlement with the former female HP contractor who had levied the allegations against him. Insiders who are well acquainted with the settlement have revealed to the media that the former HP marketing contractor has also agreed to release the world’s number one computer maker from the legal hassles with respect to the matter.
A reputed media entity has reported that Mark Hurd has reached a settlement with the unidentified woman regarding the sexual-harassment claims but the terms and conditions of the settlement has not been available to the media. The report further noted that as per the agreement that has been worked out, the corporate giant is not liable to pay any money to the former contractor. One of the sources who had a clear idea about the resolution told the media that Mark Hurd ‘has settled the matter with the woman,’ while pointing out that the settlement also involved the payment of a certain amount of money although details about the size of the payment has not been revealed.
According to reports, the deal was reached on Friday, just a day before the HP shocked the business world with the announcement of Mark Hurd’s resignation over allegations of fabricating expense reports to keep under the wraps, the “close personal relationship” that he shared with a female contractor. The unidentified woman had revealed to the HP board in the month of June that she was the victim of sexual harassment by Mark Hurd but a probe that was conducted later did not find the former CEO guilty of violating the sexual harassment policy of the company.
