Ford India and Nissan register sales growth in November
December 1st, 2011 - 7:53 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Dec 1 (IANS) Car makers Ford India Pvt Ltd and Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd closed last month with increased sales.
Ford India closed last month selling 8,322 units last month in the domestic market up from 7,504 units sold during November 2010.
According to the company, exports last month amounted to 1,769 units and added three more overseas markets - Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone and Ethiopia.
The company has sold 111,631 units (domestic and exports) between January-November this year, logging a growth of 30 percent over the like period last year.
“We are nearing the end of a positive year where we continue to see strong customer acceptance of our brands and we are selling more despite challenging market conditions. It is great to see the Figo exported to 30 international markets,” said Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham.
Meanwhile, Japanese car maker Nissan Motor India closed last month with sales of 2,688 units up from 1,071 units sold in November 2010.
According to the company, the sales growth was largely driven by its new model Sunny that logged 1,131 units last month. Since its launch in September 2011, Nissan Motor India has sold 3,130 units of Sunny.
The company sold 1,514 units of its compact car Micra last month and the balance is accounted by other models like X-TRAIL, Teana, and 370Z sports car.
Kiminobu Tokuyama, managing director at Nissan Motor India, said: “Achieving this level of sales performance in the current difficult market conditions in India reflects Nissan’s growing popularity in the Indian market.”
