Detroit, Jan 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Best Car of the year 2010 was won by the Ford Fusion Hybrid sedan at the Detroit auto show 2010. And Ford Transit Connect won the Best Truck of the year award at the same auto show. With the start of the Detroit Auto show, the automobile industry is filled with a new spirit and all the companies hope that the recession fades away.
At the Detroit Auto show the companies are in an optimistic and in an upbeat mood as the automobile industry recovers from the recession. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood told reporters, “Today is a new beginning for the automotive industry. When people have an opportunity to see the kind of products that are now being manufactured and will be on display, they will realize the auto industry is manufacturing products people want to drive.” GM Vice chairman Bob Lutz said, “I’m genuinely optimistic about the future.”
Ford Fusion Hybrid Sedan won the Best car at the show and the team behind it was naturally thrilled. “It’s such a huge motivator for our team,” Mark Fields, Ford’s president of the Americas said, “It’s a reaffirmation of all the hard work over the past couple of years.”
The Transit Connect was the best truck of the show. It is said to be very affordable at $21,830 for a base, five-passenger model with 136-horsepower, four-cylinder engine and automatic transmission.
