Paris, June 25 (IANS) Nordic carrier Finnair has bagged the ‘Best Airline’ award in customer satisfaction category in the northern European region at the ‘World Airlines Awards 2011′, the airline Saturday said.

The award was presented at the Paris air show early Saturday morning.

The airline said the awards are based on global research conducted by ‘Skytrax World Airline Survey’, which is based on direct passenger response.

“Finnair’s aim is to offer high quality service and peace of mind to its customers at every stage of the journey,” said Anssi Komulainen, officer responsible for customer services at Finnair.

According to Komulainen, the customer feedback on the airlines’ services will help it in maintaining its high standards.

The survey which awarded the Nordic carrier was based on 38 different criteria, including check-in, seat comfort, passenger cabin cleanliness and service. A total of 18.8 million air travellers from over 100 countries assessed over 200 airlines in the survey.

Meanwhile, the airlines further said that it will be expanding its flight network in the Asian region by adding major Asian destinations on its routes from the European regions.

Currently, the airline is the sole direct flight provider between several European cities and major Asian centres.
