Field study for Arun III begins in NepalJune 6th, 2008 - 1:53 pm ICT by ANI
Kathmandu, June 6 (ANI): The Satluj Hydro Electric Project (SHEP) of India, poised to generate 402 MW power from Nepal’s largest Arun III, has begun a field study of the project site in Nepals Sankhuwasabha District.
According to KS Chauhan of the Satluj Project, a team led by Satluj Officiating General Manager (OGM), Sanjay Uppal, has initiated the field study of the project site from Thursday.
“Satluj aims to obtain the Arun III Project license from Nepal Government within one month and begin construction works at the earliest,” Kantipur quoted Uppal as saying.
According to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s project estimation of 2005, the Satluj Project will complete the Arun III Project by 2015 with an investment of around Rs 64 billion.
The project is expected to provide employment to around 10,000 people in Nepal (ANI)
