fidel-castro Havana, Sep 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Fidel Castro of Cuba has said that his recent comment that the Cuban Model was not working in Cuba, was “misinterpreted.”

The former Cuban leader who has provided inspiration for the country for several years said this when he was launching his second book on the Cuban Revolution, which brought him to power at the Havana University.

Earlier this month, an American reporter - Jeffrey Goldberg from the United States magazine - the Atlantic interviewed the former leader. In the subsequent publication, the magazine reported that Fidel Castro has admitted on the issue of exporting the Cuban Model that the model has not even worked for Cuba.

During the launch of “Strategic Counteroffensive”, Castro told the gathering that he was misinterpreted in the publication. He maintained that he told the reporter exactly opposite of what the reporter brought up in the publication concerning the exportation of the Cuban Model to other countries. Castro said that, “I said that with no bitterness or concern. But the real thing is that my answer meant the exact opposite of what Goldberg and the analyst Julia Sweig, who accompanied him, interpreted on the Cuban model.”

Castro said he told the reporter and the analyst - Julia Sweig that capitalism was not working for America and the world any longer so he was wondering how it was going to work for a socialist country like Cuba.
