Farooq Abdullah gives Rs.50 lakh for Leh relief
August 30th, 2010 - 6:27 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 30 (IANS) Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah Monday gave Rs.50 lakh from his Member of Parliament Local Area Development fund (MPLAD) for relief work in the flood-ravaged Leh region of Jammu and Kashmir.
The former chief minister has donated the maximum permissible amount from the MPLAD scheme for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood-hit in Leh.
The minister has also requested the authorities to keep him informed about the sanction and implementation of the works there.
Flash floods triggered by a cloud burst Aug 6 devastated large parts of Leh, the Ladakh region’s largest town. At least 183 people were killed and 200 people are still missing.
