Extra Metro trips on Bhai Dooj
October 27th, 2011 - 8:27 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 27 (IANS) Anticipating large crowds on the occasion of Bhai Dooj Friday, the Delhi Metro will run 200 extra trips on the day, an official said.
“The metro will provide extra 200 trips and the trains will run at peak-hour frequency from morning 8 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Friday,” Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.
According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), normally 15 trains are withdrawn from the lines during non-peak hours — 12.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. But in view of the festival rush, these trains will be kept in service to provide extra trips, a statement said Thursday.
Apart from additional train trips, extra manpower will be deployed at customer facilitation and ticket counters, the official said.
Metro train services on Bhai Dooj will be available from 6.00 a.m to 11.00 p.m as usual, the spokesperson said.
The Delhi Metro with 160 metro trains makes about 2,400 trips per day, traverses about 69,000 km and carries about 18 lakh passengers on working days.
