Eurocopter’s 2011 market share at 65 percent

New Delhi/Hyderabad, March 13 (IANS) Helicopter manufacturer Eurocopter Tuesday reported that it had gained a market share of 65 percent in the first year of its Indian operations in 2011.

The company said that based on 2011 records of civil aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Eurocopter India delivered nine helicopters out of a total of 14 registered last year.

“Eurocopter has the honour of being the first helicopter manufacturer to commit to this market with a full-fledged subsidiary,” said Xavier Hay, chief executive, Eurocopter India.

The company further said that the it has received a healthy sales response in the first quarter of 2012.

“The bookings that we received in the first quarter of 2012 are an encouraging sign that we will end the year on a high note,” Hay said.
