Etihad marks a year of successful Iraq services
May 6th, 2011 - 11:19 pm ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, May 6 (IANS) UAE national carrier Etihad Airways has marked its successful first year of operations to Iraq this week.
The Etihad commenced its Abu Dhabi-Baghdad flights in April 2010 and two months later commenced operations to Erbil, its second destination in the country.
Today, the airline operates daily return service to Baghdad and twice weekly service to Erbil.
James Hogan, CEO of Etihad Airways, said: “The positive response to our services to Iraq has exceeded expectations and is testament to the strong growth in relations between our two countries.”
The volume of investments of UAE companies in Iraq reached $3 billion by the end of 2010 and is expected to rise to $6 billion in the coming years.
