Essar’s Raniganj gas reserve estimates raised (Business Capsule)September 9th, 2009 - 6:09 pm ICT by IANS
Mumbai, Sep 9 (IANS) The petroleum and natural gas regulator, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), has upwardly revised estimates of Essar Oil’s Raniganj gas find to 60.77 billion cubic metres from an earlier projection of 42 billion cubic metres.
The Essar gas reserve in West Bengal, located in the country’s oldest mining zone, is close to two major steel plants of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) along with three existing and one upcoming power plants, the company said in a regulatory statement.
Oracle, Pearson tie-up for online certification
New Delhi: Global software major Oracle has tied up with technical education major Pearson VUE to provide 120 different online examinations through 5,000 sites in 165 countries, including India.
The exams will be held through a single registration and scheduling system, making it more convenient for candidates to book a slot and provide security enhancements to protect the value of the IT certification.
ING Vysya raises Rs.230 crore
Mumbai: ING Vysya Bank has raised Rs.230 crore by issuing 9.27 million equity shares at a price of Rs.248.10 per share including a premium of Rs.238.10 to qualified institutional buyers (QIBs). The issue closed Sep 8.
The committee of the board of directors has approved the issue of shares to QIBs, the company said in a statement.
Kenwood launches 10 auto gizmos
New Delhi: Kenwood Corp, a leading developer and manufacturer of audio and video products for home, car and professional use, Wednesday said it would begin introducing 10 new car entertainment systems in India this month.
Every model features connectivity to external devices and advanced music file search, and will deliver high-quality sound, the company said in a statement.

Aptara opens new publishing centre at Trivandrum
New Delhi: Aptara Inc., engaged in knowledge process outsourcing, Wednesday said it has set up a new delivery facility in Thiruvanthapuram, which will provide advanced editorial, composition and production management services to the company’s customers.
Aptara’s new centre is located at the Technopark software campus in the Kerala capital that houses over 150 global enterprises employing 20,000 knowledge sector workers. It will be the fourth Aptara delivery centre in India, and bring the company’s India headcount to over 4,000.
Nikon launches two new cameras
New Delhi: Nikon India Wednesday launched two digital cameras - D3000 and D300s. The Nikon D3000 10.2 megapixel comes with an extensive retouch menu, enabling users to edit photos without a computer and offers an 11-point autofocus system.
The Nikon D300s 12.3-megapixel camera offers 51-point autofocus system and faster seven frame-per-second of continuous shooting. The D3000 will retail for Rs.30,450 with the kit priced at Rs.37,950, while the D300s will cost Rs.109,950.
Max New York, LifeCell tie up
New Delhi: Max New York Life Insurance Wednesday announced a strategic tie-up with LifeCell, India’s first stem cell banking service provider.
The insurer said it will offer life insurance options to LifeCell customers for their children. LifeCell, it said, provided biological insurance for children by banking their umbilical cord blood stem cells for future therapeutic use.
