Mumbai, May 21 (IANS) Indian equities markets, which opened in the negative zone Wednesday, recovered by early afternoon. At 1.40 p.m., the 30-share benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, was up by 28.32 points or 0.16 percent to 17,258.50. It had earlier touched a high of 17,264.83 and a low of 17,041.63 points.
At the same time the broader-based S&P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange was trading at 5,121.10. It was up by 17.05 points or 0.32 percent.
The market breadth turned positive. While 1,528 shares advanced on BSE, 1,060 declined and 76 remained unchanged.
