Equities markets continue downslide in afternoon trade (Second Lead)

Mumbai, June 3 (IANS) The Indian equities markets that had opened in the red Tuesday continued their downslide in the afternoon. At 12:30 p.m., the 30-share benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, was trading at 15,781.57 with a loss of 281.61. It had touched a high of 15,906.77 and a low of 15,709.51 points earlier Tuesday.

At the same time, the S&P Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange was at 4,656.35 points with a loss of 83.25 points or 1.76 percent from its previous close.

The market breadth stayed negative. On BSE, 454 stocks advanced, 1,984 declined and 49 remained unchanged.
