Egypt terminates Israel gas deal
April 23rd, 2012 - 9:09 am ICT by IANSCairo, April 23 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Egypt has terminated a long-term gas deal with Israel because of violations of contractual obligations, Egypt’s daily al-Ahram reported.
The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company’s decision Sunday comes after a string of cross-border pipeline attacks in the 14 months since Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak’s ouster last February. The move overshadows the peace agreement between the two countries.
