Bangalore, March 29 (IANS) The economic centre of gravity is slowly shifting to Asia and the 21st century is poised to become an Indian century, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani said Monday.
“The world is emerging from a severe economic shock and resetting itself to face newer economic realities. India is one of the earliest countries to recover from the economic meltdown. The economic centre of gravity is slowly but steadily shifting to Asia,” he said at the 35th annual convocation of the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIM-B) here.
Addressing about 500 students graduating from the premier business school of which he is the chairman, he said: “India is on the path to becoming a major economic power. We have the opportunity to become one. I believe we will become one. We have to seize opportunities effectively and in time. And this requires leadership in all walks of life.”
He told the students they were graduating at “the most appropriate time for shaping a new and resurgent India”. “The power of youth will be centric to the shaping of the future of India. The opportunities before each and every one of you are historic,” he said.
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman K. Radhakrishan delivered the convocation address and IIM-B director Pankaj Chandra presented the b-school’s report.
