Eastern Railway earnings, passengers go up
January 19th, 2011 - 11:26 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Jan 19 (IANS) Eastern Railway (ER) has recorded a 3.18 percent increase in its originating earning and a 10 percent rise in the number of passengers in the April-December period of 2010 as compared to last year, an official said Wednesday.”This time we have earned Rs.3546.12 crore as against Rs.3436.90 crore earned in the previous year,” ER’s general manager Varun Bharthuar said while inaugurating the 115th zonal railway users’ consultative committee meeting here.
He also said the number of passengers during the same period went up by 10 percent. In April-December period of 2009, ER carried 75.48 crore passengers while in 2010, about 82.99 passengers availed the services.
