October 27th, 2011 - 8:16 pm ICT by IANSPanaji, Oct 27 (IANS) A Colombo-bound flight, with 263 passengers on board, Thursday made an emergency landing at Goa’s Dabolim airport following a bird-hit, an airport official said.
An Airports Authority of India official said the incident took place in the forenoon when the Amsterdam-Goa-Colombo flight, a Boeing-767 operated by low-cost Dutch airliner Arkefly, was taking off from the airstrip, around 30 km from here.
“The plane was taking off from the Dabolim airstrip after a brief halt. The engine was partially damaged,” the official said.
“Arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to Sri Lanka,” the official said.
