Dunlop to start production from Sahaganj unit Dec 2
November 24th, 2009 - 10:07 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Nov 24 (IANS) City-based tyre manufacturer Dunlop India would resume production at its Sahaganj unit Dec 2, the company said Tuesday.
“Through a notice at the entrance of the Sahaganj plant, the management of Dunlop India has informed its employees today (Tuesday) that the production at the plant will resume on and from Wednesday, December 2, 2009,” a company release said.
The Ruia Group-run company suspended work at the Sahaganj unit in Hooghly district of West Bengal in November last year citing the economic meltdown and recessionary pressure.
It re-opened March 6, but could not resume production as there was no power connection.
“The plant reopened on March 6 and started routine maintenance with 229 workers. However, production at the plant could not resume immediately as the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Co refused to restore power supply to the plant,” the release said.
“After protracted deliberation over the terms of the letter of credit, power was finally restored on November 9, 2009,” it added.
