Driver refuses to run train due to damp seat
February 12th, 2011 - 7:26 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Feb 12 (IANS) A train driver in Britain walked off from work - leaving commuters stranded - when he realised that his seat was damp.Daily Express reported Saturday that when the driver saw that his seat was damp, he walked off, forcing hundreds of commuters to wait half an hour for another Southeastern service from Hastings to London.
Train officials admitted that the driver’s seat had “become wet” when the locomotive passed through a train wash.
Furious commuters wondered as to why he couldn’t have put his waterproof jacket over the seat.
“What is really annoying is that this driver point blank refused to get in the train.
“As soon as he realised his seat was wet, that was it,” Gemma Ellis, 34, was quoted as saying.
