Drive re-launched to fill up reserved posts
September 8th, 2011 - 8:04 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS) The government has re-launched a drive to fill up vacant posts in its departments reserved for Dalits and others, parliament was told Thursday.
Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office V. Narayanasamy told the Rajya Sabha that a special recruitment drive was begun in November 2008 to fill up 77,487 vacant posts.
These were meant for members of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes communities.
But till July this year, the deadline for filling up the posts, only 26,442 people could be recruited.
“Since a large number of backlog vacancies still remains unfilled, the drive has been re-launched,” he said.
