Direct tax collection up 3.71 percent
December 2nd, 2009 - 8:46 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 2 (IANS) Direct tax collection during the fist eight months this fiscal rose 3.71 percent to Rs.183,822 crore as against Rs.177,251 crore in the like period last year.
Tax paid by corporates increased 3.17 percent to Rs.113,210 crore during April-November as compared to Rs.109,735 crore in the corresponding period last year, while personal income tax rose 4.53 percent to Rs.70,262 crore from Rs.67,215 crore, a government statement said.
Last month, the direct tax collection moved up marginally to Rs.10,375 crore as compared to Rs.10,346 crore in November 2008.
Corporate tax collection, however, fell by 29.5 percent to Rs.3,214 crore as against Rs.4,561 crore last fiscal.
