Delhi to arrange for extra electricity from Damodar Valley Corp.
May 19th, 2011 - 1:38 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 19 (IANS) To meet the ever-increasing power demand due to the soaring summer temperatures, the Delhi government said Wednesday it will try to arrange additional power from the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) and the central pool.
The maximum peak load of power touched 4,823 MW at 4.10 p.m. Wednesday. This is the maximum demand so far during this summer. The availability compared to the peak demand was 4,486 MW. Last year, the highest power demand was 4,720 MW.
The Delhi government has approached the union power ministry to resolve the issue of power demand in the capital.
The DISCOMS had to resort to load shedding at a few places on rotational basis in Delhi as supply of required power could not be made available due to the technical snags in major generating stations of Aravalli Power Project at Jhajjar and Dadri.
