Delhi power firms warned against cuts
October 13th, 2011 - 11:42 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 13 (IANS) The Delhi government Thursday said strict action will be taken against power distribution companies if they resort to load-shedding despite sufficient availability of power.
“In a meeting held today (Thursday), the Delhi Energy Regulatory Commission has warned all the discoms not to resort to load-shedding if power is available in the capital,” Power Minister Haroon Yusuf told reporters.
He added that the Central Energy Regulatory Commission has warned the Uttar Pradesh government against overdrawing power so that frequency in the grid can be maintained.
“All discoms have been asked not to underdraw power. Apart from that, instructions have been issued to them to make alternative arrangements to fulfill the demand of power in the capital,” added the minister.
He said discoms will have to announce the schedule of load-shedding if they go for it.
“If you see the power scenario of other neighbouring states, you will find that Delhi is better off,” Yusuf added.
