New Delhi, Dec 23 (IANS) The Delhi Metro will induct two six-coach trains on the Dwarka-Noida and Dwarka-Anand Vihar routes Thursday night to ease soaring crowds on the network.DMRC Director H.S. Anand said the first six-coach train will leave the Yamuna Bank station at 9.30 p.m. while another will be operational Friday.

He said that six-coach trains were likely to be introduced on the Jahangirpuri-HUDA City Centre line by Feb 15 as this Metro stretch, one of the busiest, carries about 12 lakh passengers daily.

The additional coaches will be able to accommodate about 600 more passengers per trip.

At present a four-coach train has a carrying capacity of 1,200-1,500 passengers. The six-coach train will be able to take in about 1,800-2,100 people per trip.

The DMRC now carries about 16 lakh passengers daily. With the introduction of six-coach trains, the Metro aims to ferry 25 lakh people by October, an official said.

There are 54 trains on the Jahangirpuri-Huda City Centre route now. This will be go up to 60.

The number of trains on the Dilshad Garden-Rithala route will go up by four to 29 but they will continue to operate four-coach trains.

On the Noida City Centre-Dwarka sector, DMRC plans to increase by seven the number of trains that now totals 64. Of the 71, 39 will be six-coach and 32 four-coach trains.
