Delhi Metro changes new helpline number
December 28th, 2010 - 9:04 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 28 (IANS) Within two days of issuing a new helpline number, Delhi Metro was asked by telecom authorities to change it to “155370,” according to an official. The Metro had announced Sunday that the new number will be “155363″ and be operational from Jan 1.”The Department of Telecommunications changed the newly allotted number ‘155363′ to ‘155370′. The new helpline number 155370′ will be operational from the Jan 1,” Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said Tuesday.
The 24-hour helpline number “155370″ will register complaints and suggestions regarding Delhi Metro services. It will replace the existing number “128128,” which will become non-functional Jan 1, he said.
A new number is being introduced as Delhi Metro was receiving many complaints from commuters that the number ‘128128′ did not connect on GSM and CDMA mobile phones,” the official added.
The Metro authorities have promised that the new number will help provide easy access and speedy solutions to public queries and complaints.
Mobile users and even callers residing outside Delhi can avail the service by calling 011-155370, Dayal said, adding that the new number has been provided with caller-ID and recording facilities.
However, the calls made on this service will not be toll-free.
According to Delhi Metro, the new helpline service will help old and physically challenged commuters to seek in advance assistance from the Metro staff to provide wheelchair facility at all the stations.
The online customer care cell, which works from Delhi Metro’s Shastri Park depot, on an average receives about 150 calls a day pertaining to train timings, feeder bus services, fares and Metro routes, said the official.
