September 24th, 2011 - 6:47 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 24 (IANS) Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport Saturday said it had completed arrangements for Haj pilgrims who will travel to Saudi Arabia this year.
“The erstwhile international terminal, T2, will be used for Haj operations for the second consecutive year,” said I. Prabhakara Rao, chief executive of Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which runs the IGI Airport.
According to Rao, the company has made specific arrangements in coordination with other agencies such as the customs, immigration, police and airlines to provide various facilities to the pilgrims.
“Pilgrims will be able to use specially earmarked areas for offering prayers inside T2,” Rao said.
The company said that the other facilities in the terminal include eight immigration counters, 10 check-in counters and currency exchange.
“We have set up foreign exchange counters. Specially trained traffic marshals along with Delhi Police will ensure smooth flow of the traffic,” he added.
The company said that the first batch of pilgrims will leave from IGI Airport Sep 29 and arrivals will be from Nov 11 till Dec 12.
It is expected that around 32,000 Haj pilgrims will fly out from Delhi.
