Decision on reinstating Hyundai workers deferred to Sep 13
September 3rd, 2010 - 7:45 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Sep 3 (IANS) A decision on reinstating 35 dismissed workers of the Hyundai Motor India was deferred for the third time Friday to Sep 13, with Tamil Nadu Labour Minister T.M. Anbarasan seeking more time to prepare a report on the issue.
“Today (Friday) the Labour Minister Anbarasan attended the meeting and asked for time till Sept 13 to prepare the report. Though we didn’t like the postponement, we had no choice,” General Secretary of Centre for Indian Trade Union (CITU) A. Soundararajan told IANS.
The Hyundai Motor India Employees Union (HMIEU) is affiliated to CITU.
The Hyundai management and HMIEU had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in June. As per the MoU, a review committee was constituted to prepare a report on the reinstatement of the dismissed employees. But the committee has failed to come up with a solution in its two meetings earlier.
