New Delhi, Jan 30 (IANS) All corruption complaints related to the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG) have been sent to the CBI, Delhi Police Monday told a court here on a plea by an activist who sought filing of a graft case against Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.
“As the matters related to CWG are already being investigated by CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation), all the complaints have been sent to the CBI as the subject matter and allegations in the present complaint are also related to the CWG,” police said in a status report filed before a magistrate.
The police reply came on a complaint by Right to Information (RTI) activist Vivek Garg.
Garg, in his application, sought the lodging of a case against Dikshit, Delhi minister Raj Kumar Chauhan and former chief of the CWG Organising Committee Suresh Kalmadi for alleged corruption in the sporting event.
The case would next be heard Feb 23.
“Diskhit, Chauhan, Kalmadi and other top politicians, officials of the Delhi government and the centre and their nexus of corrupt businessmen connived with each other to cause wrongful loss to the public exchequer and wrongful gain to themselves or persons whom they were interested in,” Garg said in his application.
Garg also made allegations against Dikshit on the basis of a report of a committee headed by former comptroller and auditor general V.K. Shunglu set up by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on alleged lapses related to the Games.
