Costco to stop carrying Coca-Cola products

November 18th, 2009 - 7:56 pm ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt Tell a Friend -

Atlanta, Nov 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Costco is all set to stop carrying Coca Cola products in its stores as the both of them are engaged in a pricing war. The people who are going to be really affected due to this financial spat are the Costco and the Coca Cola mutual customers.

The very public and financial tiff between one of the nation’s largest wholesale club operators and the world’s largest soft drink maker is going to cost a lot to their consumers, as they are going to be bereft of their favorite products.

Coca Cola is struggling to fight off the losses and maintain its profits while also giving its customers the best prices in the recession and also meeting the retailer demands. The latter part is what it is struggling to implement and that is what has now even spilled into the public eye.

“Beneath this surface of harmony, it’s a dogfight out there,” Gerry Khermouch, editor of Beverage Business Insights, said Tuesday at an investor meeting held by the soft drink maker at its hometown of Atlanta.

“Costco is committed to carrying name brand merchandise at the best possible prices. At this time, Coca-Cola has not provided Costco with competitive pricing so that we may pass along the value our members deserve,” said a message on the company’s Web site labeled “Price Alert!”
