Costco is not carrying Coca Cola products over pricing issues
November 19th, 2009 - 1:42 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattAtlanta, Nov 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Costco is all set to stop carrying Coca Cola products in its stores as the both of them are engaged in a pricing war. The people who are going to be really affected due to this financial spat are the Costco and the Coca Cola mutual customers.
So, Coca-Cola Co. products will no longer be available at Costco’s 562 warehouses worldwide, including all its South Florida locations. Coca Cola is fighting to put its account books in the red, while also giving its customers the best deal, price-wise in the recession and also meeting the retailer demands. The latter part is what it is struggling to implement and that is what has now even spilled into the public eye.
“Costco is committed to carrying name brand merchandise at the best possible prices. At this time, Coca-Cola has not provided Costco with competitive pricing so that we may pass along the value our members deserve,” said a message on the company’s Web site labeled “Price Alert!”
“Beneath this surface of harmony, it’s a dogfight out there,” Gerry Khermouch, editor of Beverage Business Insights, said Tuesday at an investor meeting held by the soft drink maker at its hometown of Atlanta.
Coca-Cola shares rose 2 cents to $56.76 in premarket trading on Tuesday. Whereas Costco shares were unchanged from Monday’s close of $61.12
